‘Memba this?

I stepped out of the dressing room to Isaak, sitting on a sofa while working on his laptop that was on the ottoman in front of him.

“What do you think?”

We’d been at it for over an hour, and Neiman Marcus was our third store in Merrick Park mall. He’d been patient the whole time, only requiring space for his laptop and privacy from shoppers. Guy arranged for it all, and Isaak was content.

Until now. He sat back, covering the infectious face-splitting smirk with his hand.

“Isaak,” I tried again in a low timbre, chin dipped. “I’m talking to you.”

He didn’t respond, just gazed at me with bashful humor in his eyes. I straightened my stance, hands going to my hips. The sales associate, assisting me and waiting for his response, too, apparently grew confused by his silence.

“Is everything okay, sir?”

When Isaak didn’t reply, I spoke for him. “He’s just reacting to the selfie I just sent him from when I tried on the Adora Playsuit in Agent Provocateur.”

“Kenny!” Isaak warned, bashful about sex talk in front of strangers.

I used my fingers to cover my blush. I’d sent it to him while being zipped up in the dress I was now showing him. It was the naughtiest thing I could think to do to get his mind on me…sensually.

When I could stop with the silliness, I raised my arms and spun around to show him the dress.

“It’s dope,” he approved.

“It’s Balmain.” I didn’t want to take advantage of this shopping spree.

“I know.” He leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees to go back to his laptop. “I’m the one who picked it. Now, c’mon. It’s getting late.”

“Where are we going?” It was after five in the evening.

“We haven’t had a decent meal,” he answered with his regard ahead, on his computer. “A early dinner and then a day party my peoples want me to come through in Miami.”

Oh

I had no idea of his itinerary for us over the next two days. In all honesty, it didn’t matter.

“I think I’ve gotten enough,” I told Mary, the sales associate. “I’m done.”

Isaak’s sables rolled up to me.

“Okay.” She smiled brightly. “I can gather your things and take them to the register for ringing. Let me help you out of this.”

I glanced down at the long sleeve knit mini dress with a plunged neckline. It would come in handy as the day turned cooler going into the night. We’d taken a cabin cruiser from Marye Island to the Coral Gables. I dressed in cropped leggings, an off-shoulder tee, and sneakers. Celeste didn’t pack much at all. I suspected this was her way of ensuring a shopping spree of sorts from Isaak.

“I’m wearing this.”

“Word?” Isaak asked with humor in his eyes.

“Yeah.” I smoothed down the fabric. “Money like this should be worn right away.”

“Corny ass.” He laughed. “What about your footwear?”

I shrugged, hadn’t made it that far in thinking.

“Those peep-toe mustard Alexander McQueen Court pumps you tried on earlier would pair well with this on a day like today,” Mary suggested.

I glanced over to Isaak and caught him going back to his laptop. “That curve in the heel is dope. You should cop those,” his advice was offered so casually.

I shrugged at Mary, agreeing.
