Girl, Have You Read? Counted Your Vote!

So, some time on Friday while I was preparing to celebrate a birthday (not mine), and to receive guests to do so, this was announced.

Not only am I the recipient of Girl, Have You Read?’s “Favorite Book/Series,” I am the same for “Favorite Romance Author of 2019!” Un-friggin-believable!

When I encouraged you guys to vote, it wasn’t so much for me to win (and certainly not both categories), but to demonstrate our voices as readers, making our preferences known as well as our presence. You may not have thought beyond your favorite books/characters, but participating in events like this illustrates your buying power.

Why does that matter?

Because when you support Black authors and our brands, it makes bigger businesses take note and want to endorse us, expanding our brands. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I service one of the most powerful buying groups (in the U.S.). And just to think, my sister-readers are beyond the U.S. borders!

Congratulations to Chelsea Maria! I can’t describe how happy I am for you. Getting validation at the beginning of this writing game can go a long way. I hope you’re encouraged to continue to work your gift! #KeepGoingWeNeedYou ??
