Have you noticed the final installments of my serials are no longer in the Kindle Unlimited library?
We’re doing the same with the up and coming series, Muted Hopelessness, too. I’ll explain why.
Kindle Unlimited is a unique and wonderful program for publishers/authors. It allows Kindle (Amazon) readers to have access to our titles, some of whom may have otherwise passed them by. The program is a good way to ‘sample’ writing without the commitment of paying the full cost of each book you add to your library. My publishing company, MKT Publishing, LLC, takes part in the program for most of my titles and enjoy the rewards of it.
In the fall of 2017, my publishing partner and I decided to pull all serial conclusions from the Kindle Unlimited (KU) program. While KU offers us a unique opportunity to expose our titles to that segment of their readership, it does not pay the full royalty of the book. That is the tradeoff.
It is my belief, if you’ve sampled the story and would like to continue the journey, you wouldn’t mind paying the full cost for the conclusion. Doing so supports my publishing company and gives us the full asking price of the book, not just a portion.
Many KU subscribers don’t understand the other side of the coin. They don’t understand it’s an optional program between publishers and Kindle (Amazon), not one that entitles KU subscribers to every book available in Kindle format. So, I hope this clears up our decision. And as always, thanks for your dedicated support!

I’m perfect okay with that decision. If the book is good, I buy it. I realized that the final installments weren’t offered on Kindle Unlimited awhile ago. I respect your decision, and still fully support your work. Any chance for an early release on that sequel?

On Amazon, Shawn. The same way you can all of my books. That hasn’t changed. It just won’t be available to a select few who only read books in the Kindle Unlimited library.

I absolutely 100% support you on this. I love KU for the ability to sample books from new authors but I’ve always felt very strongly about showing support to the talented authors I love. That’s why I bought all your books long ago despite KU and continue to buy them when they release. If you know it’s gonna be fire why beat around the bush lol. Kudos to you as always dear. The ‘sample’ is enough…you write books that are over 300 pages. Just 1 of them actually pays for the KU Program for a month (cough the books are worth more than they’re listed for cough). It’s more than a sample, it’s a buffet at that point that people are either allergic to (not for them) or they become a glutton on it. I for one know, when I sample just 20% of a book, I buy it if it interests me. So what’s so hard to actually by one book after you have read 2-3 books that are well over 300 pages? Chale, I just don’t see it not being a win…for the reader. Because it surely isn’t a win for the author. Love it, then buy it. Simple!

I’m such a fan of your work that even after reading on KU, I had to purchase most titles through Kindle and my favorite (Wayward Love Series) I HAD to have for my bookshelf. Ragee and Wynter must go on my bookshelf as well, so I’ll be ordering those hard copies through Amazon since I won’t have the pleasure of seeing you face to face this year. You know your worth, and I’ll bet my bottom dollar that all of us true fans do as well.

I’ve read the first installment on KU and purchased it for my library shortly thereafter. This installment will be pre-purchased. I’ve also purchased other conclusions and I’ve never regretted a purchase. I hope you get that early release worked out😉😉

I read “The left of Love” on KU as the very first book from you. I purchased every single book in your after that.
For my birthday, Mother’s day, Easter, Christmas, Boxing Day, Chinese New Year. Heck! ANY holiday on the calendar I have requested a book of yours in paperback as a gift to add to my collection. My first turn in my book club I presented one of your books. All 19 women had read your catalog by the end of the weekend. Girl, do you and trust we will continue to buy and suppprt. Be blessed.
I fully support this decision, as a consumer! This is why I one-click once I have “sampled” enough from one author (usually 1-3 books) and sometimes even purchase those I’ve sampled! I use KU strictly to discover new authors that appeal to me. To me, supporting the author financially is the least I can do for the entertainment I’m provided…even when I end up in my feelings at the end of the book!!
I purchase your books regardless!! So it doesn’t phase me that it’s not available on Kindle Unlimited. I’ve only used Kindle Unlimited once or twice during a free trial and I prefer to own my books, especially yours!!

I love KU because I read too much, and too fast. It’s the best way to fit my hobby into my budget. That being said I do still purchase books for my Kindle. I’m sure this one will be worth my coins. Cannot wait to read it. I have read all the other series (some more than once) and have not been disappointed.
Funny, I never noticed the final installments were not a part of Kindle Unlimited because I automatically buy the book. I understand the business decision and totally agree with it. I have no problem purchasing books that I like and believe in supporting our authors. I’ll admit Kindle Unlimited has become my avenue of choice to test new authors but once I find I like the writing style I purchase 100% of the time.

I think your books are awesome I’m great full that you and quite a few other publishers have teamed up with kindle unlimited it allow me to browse through books and fall in love with the writers so to speak and get eager to get more books to read so it’s a great decision in charging full book price for your books. I feel if a person have read the first series and totally enjoyed it there shouldn’t be an issue to purchase the final installment. Thanks alot you and Christina C Jones do keep me entertained. Wasn’t disappointed. Figured since you provide me with a “great escape” I can support your diva/bougie habits. WIN WIN.

I have absolutely no problem buying any of your books Love! I bought every last one of them and they were all FIRE!!! You keep pumping them out and I’ll keep purchasing them! That’s how much faith I have that you will give me a story that will either keep me up all night trying to finish or spoon feed myself the read so that I won’t finish so fast…and be stuck with nothin else that good to read.

Thanks for the heads up, however if you decided not to partake in the kindle unlimited program at all I would still fully support you. Your books are worth every dime and then some. Some of these “popular”authors give you half of the story with very short books with the same story lines over and over and ask for $10.00 dollars or more. You give me words, ideas and thoughts I have to look up and use for my self. Let’s not even mention how you help me understand some scriptures in the Bible a little better So I understand securing the coin. You definitely deserve it.

Well, I love your books and I am a Kindle Unlimited subscriber. As a retired educator on a fixed income, this will impact my ability to continue being a loyal reader. Do what you feel you need to do as an established author. Teachers are already underpaid, unappreciated, and not respected. I just loved the ability to have unlimited access to one of my favorite authors.

While you’re at it, can you start pre-selling the books so they can automatically be there on release date? Make your paper sis! MY is cool, but most of the Urban fiction books are churn and burn and you get what you pay for. Just please don’t charge $15 for the e-book. I find it hard to pay that for a digital book.
It makes sense. When I discovered your books in KU, I read them all, spread the word, then went back and bought all of them. They are worth every penny, IMHO.
